Fall is the season to let go, to clean and to remember. Our dry
summer is becoming a memory as the scent of leaves and wood mulch
blend in a fall bouquet. What a perfect time take the guidance of
our environment. Just as the trees cast away the old leaves, we
can think through our lives to see what is no longer needed. As
Zsuzanna Budapest says "Go through your soul as if it were
a long-forgotten attic and see where cleaning up is way overdue".
Allow your psychic garbage to turn to compost. Trust that the universal
will do something productive with prana that remains.
Let
go and clean out in material ways too. You can go through your closet
and give away the clothing. Go through your pantry and give unneeded
dry goods to the food bank. Donate your old books to a prison. Decide
how much money you can "let go" of for charities soon.
Make yourself lighter and cleaner as winter approaches. Know that
the winter will draw your energies inward and slow them.
Take
time now to recall events, conversations, stories or moments that
gave you heart to persevere on the sometimes-difficult path life
laid before you this year. Remember those who have passed away.
And remember those who were born this year. And celebrate them both.
2000
B.C.E is just around the corner. I feel a little disillusioned regarding
the Millennium hoopla. I think "What is the big deal about?".
I suppose people wish to leave their mark on time or perhaps they
look for an opportunity for change. But, I think Mohandas Gandhi
said it so concisely "We must be the change we wish to see".
It
may be an illusion indeed to await the end of the calendar year
for something significant to happen or be or not be. Do what you
can now. DonŐt wait to see what will happen. Caste your spell on
the future by being present in the now. It is only then that the
wheel of Karma/time really starts to turn.
